As soon as you enter the gates to Crindau Lodge, you begin to realise that you have arrived at a very special destination.
Your senses will marvel at the majestic panorama, which offers a spectacular view over the entire Western Bay of Plenty. Mount Maunganui is visible to your right, with Bowentown on the left and Mayor Island holding centre stage… On a clear day you can even see the still-active volcanic White Island and the ranges of Welcome Bay over 50 kilometres away. The setting can only be described as stunning!
The Lodge interior has been tastefully renovated in Asia-Pacific style, combining our favourite elements from Thailand, Laos and Indonesia with South Pacifica.
Crindau Lodge is perfect as a romantic getaway or executive retreat. There is no traffic noise up here; just the soul-restoring sounds of birdsong and breeze…

Crindau Lodge is an ideal place to recover from your jetlag. We have always thought that it makes no sense to spend your first few days in New Zealand stuck in the hustle of Auckland. If you are travelling from overseas, you probably just left a big city, right?
For international guests we can arrange a Luxury Shuttle from Auckland Airport. This service can also be arranged for guests arriving at Rotorua or Hamilton Airports. We offer a complimentary pick up and drop off service at Tauranga Airport, which is only a short half hour flight from Auckland International.
We have travelled extensively around both North and South Island of New Zealand and can offer first-hand advice on where to visit and where to stay. Let us help to custom build you a unique itinerary. We have all sorts of exciting ideas and a library full of maps and guidebooks.
There are over fifty species of Native plants in our own little piece of paradise, which has been designated a special ecological zone and borders the Kaimai Mamaku Forest National Park.
Relax in the lush tropical gardens and enjoy the peace. Lay back in a sunny spot and let the songs of the Grey warbler, Bell-Birds and Tui enchant you.
Bird-lovers will be enthralled by the variety of native species that regularly visit us. We have counted over twenty different species, including Wood-Pigeon, Pheasant and California Quail. For nature enthusiasts we provide binoculars and guide-books to all native New Zealand plants and birds.
If the peace and quiet gets too much for you, then our cheeky fantails will keep you company as you explore one of our easy bush trails. A perfect introduction to the more challenging trails that we offer for the more adventurous in the Kaimai Mamaku National Park.
